Alaska Diary
I spent the summer of 2006 living and working in the Alaskan Interior at Denali National park. During this amazing life changing excursion, I decided to keep a sort of diary which I posted to the web for friends and family. It includes thoughts and ramblings as well as relevant pictures to accompany particular entries. It is incomplete in that I did not post it every day but most days. As it happens, looking back on it now. I am so glad that I kept this record, it is becoming more valuable with the passing of time.
My summer in Alaska was truly amazing, When I wasn’t working I spent my time meeting people, exploring the wilderness, hiking, getting around in light aircraft / helicopters and doing the kind of things that I never thought I would. I will never forget my time there nor the people I met – some of whom have become good friends.
If you have ever seen the movie “Into the wild“, during my time in Alaska, I was lucky enough to go on a 3 day hike into the wilderness to the bus where Chris McCandless actually died. Actually Sean Penn and his team were in Denali making the movie at the same time that I was there. You can read about my adventure into the bus in posts from August 2nd, 3rd and 4th in particular but I also mention it in several places prior and after these dates.
